About Us

Welcome to West Knox Specilaty Urology, a division of Urology and Urologic Surgery, P.C. We’re so glad you’re here.

Experts expect 1 in 2 women will have a UTI in their lifetime, many of whom will have them repeatedly. If you are having recurrent or chronic UTI’s that never seem to go away or go away for a few days with antibiotics and quickly return, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And, we are here to help!

Started by Meghan Shotwell, PA-C, a Physician Assistant in Urology, West Knox Specialty Urology exists to help those suffering from recurrent or chronic urinary tract infection, chronic interstitial cystitis, painful bladder syndrome, and chronic pelvic pain. Through an integrative approach, we offer exceptional care to treat the underlying causes of chronic bladder pain conditions and resolve ongoing UTI symptoms.

Meghan has a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She worked in Urology for two years as a medical assistant prior to attending Anne Arundel Community College and The University of Maryland, Baltimore for her Physician Assistant certificate and Master of Science in Health Sciences degree. She has been practicing urology at Urology and Urologic Surgery, P.C. at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee since 2016. Meghan specializes in the treatment of chronic interstitial cystitis, urinary incontinence, urinary tract infectious disease, and female pelvic health.

In her clinical practice, she was seeing time and time again how devastating chronic urinary tract infections could be to her patients. Using state-of-the-art molecular diagnostics, Meghan soon came to realize that there is much more to treating UTI’s and chronic pelvic pain than antibiotics and pain medications alone. Balancing the body’s own functions, increasing natural immunity, and correcting underlying problems and deficiencies are key to ending chronic UTI’s once and for all.
